Repair and Restoration services for 8 track player
Level 1
8 track service and repair only. We diagnose and repair/replace failing parts to bring the unit back to working condition. General control cleaning, service tape advance mechanisms, belts are replaced, motor adjusted, tape head cleaning and adjusted. No cosmetic work, no maintenance work.
Note; Sometimes the units peak performance capabilities, sound quality at times may not be reached with this type of service. It is just to get unit working again as is. A second evaluation will be conducted after initial repairs are made for further service suggestions if needed. 30 day warranty on repair parts only.
Cost depends on diagnosed problem plus parts and labor.
Level 2
Repair unit to working condition (as described in level 1) plus maintenance service.
Maintenance service included the replacement of all electrolytic capacitors, internal fuse, resistors, amp and pre amp transistors for optimal sound quality and longevity. General control cleaning and mechanisms lubed, belts are replaced, motor adjusted, tape head cleaning and adjusted. No cosmetic work. 5 year warranty on replaced parts only.
Level 3
This is a full cosmetic and technical restoration. Intended for concourse points cars. Every single part of the 8 track is restored in detail. Work includes level 2 work mentioned above in addition the entire unit is disassembled. All metal housings are chemically cleaned, deoxidized and polished to it’s original clean finish. Then sealed with protective coating for finish retention. All circuit boards are also chemically cleaned and deoxidized with electronic safe agents. Heatsink is refinished and outputs refreshed. 5 years warranty on unit. 8 track door plating work is extra.

NOTE: 8 track heads and 8 track motors.
80% of the time the 8 track heads can be cleaned to good working condition. But there are instances 20% of the time, where corrosion and extra wear may have compromised this and the head would need replacement for an additional cost.
8 track motors seldom need replacing. These are well made motors. 90% of the time with minor cleaning and service new brushes they will work as good as new. This is service and cleaning is included in our work. But there are instances, 10% of the time, where the motor may need replacement for an additional cost.
